in mostly conservative areas it might be a good idea. Heck, it might even be beneficial for a Blue Dog's street cred in mostly conservative areas to be criticized by President Obama. There is nothing wrong with a little show business if they are on the same page in private.

I'm a fiscal and social liberal who recognizes most of the nation is not like me. I don't want mostly conservative areas consigned to Republicans. Conservative Democrats are easier to persuade and bargain with than a Republican who's goal, as far as our party goes, is to see it fail by any means necessary

12. How's that strategy working out for Blanche Lincoln right about now?

I don't think people are ideologically opposed to the President so much as they are pissed that he and the Democrats aren't getting shit done. Lincoln spent so much time worrying about what the right wing would think of her if she supported health care reform that she didn't notice that everybody else would be pissed if it never got passed. There was a poll showing that 55% of Arkansas supported health care with a public option and I'm sure more probably supported health care reform in general. But rather than supporting health care reform (or at least voting for cloture) she helped the Republicans make it impossible for Obama and her own party to govern. In other words she helped dig her own grave.

There are some parts of the country that are literally so conservative that you're right, the only way to win is to run as a Republican that just happens to have a D next to your name. But blue dogs who actually represent constituencies that are that conservative are few and far between and often they only last for one term because they won due to a scandal. The vast majority of people want jobs and they want health care and if people like Blanche Lincoln would stop obstructing then Democrats might be able to campaign in November on how they've done something about those things.

This tactic goes back to the days of FDR and possibly before. Smart Presidents understand there are some districts where the party will do better if the candidates can tell their constituents they gave the President hell.

Now, speaking as a constituent of his here in the wonderful town of Stockton I can say clearly that he is an asshole and he will not get my vote.

Stockton has been forgotten by the President and our Representatives and our Senators. I live Stockton everyday and I know, no one is helping us here. No one.

We have to help ourselves.

Do you hear me Mr President? Do you hear me Representative Cardoza?

I can't remember the last time Cardoza came here to Stockton.
