He actually seems to explain things better than some economist. That impresses the hell out of me. Bush had an MBA and I can never remember him making sense when talking about the economy.

I, too, admire Krugman, the man you quote so liberally - fool that I am, I almost trust him. His diagnosis of my own country's (Ireland) problems was, initially it seemed, spot on, although, as it proved, his ignorance of our banking system's corruption deemed his diagnosis to be, in the end, somewhat quaint. But I don't hold that against him, although I would appreciate him at least familiarizing himself with topics before he expounds on them.

I have no doubt that you possess, as you keep telling us, an expertise on economic matters, so much so I am looking forward to you one day posting your own thoughts on the world economy, rather than just quoting those of someone else.

President Obama is carrying water for the entire Democratic party at this point on the matter of selling HCR to the "ignorant" American public. Congressional Dems will have to aggressively step up in their own districts and speak directly to their constituents and local newspapers/TV affiliates regarding the benefits of HCR from now until November.

21. Look no further than his Chief Economic Advisor and Treasury Secretary -- both Wall Streeters.

Look at his USTR going around the country pushing for more free trade deals. Look at the hundreds of billions of dollars he has given to the Wall Streeters. I don't have to come up with RW talking points because Obama is handing them out on a silver platter. Of course I prefer Obama over any repuke, but he is not FDR or JFK. Finally, saying Obama is taking care of Wall Street and not Main Street IS NOT a RW talking point -- it is a progressive talking point.

... and it is not just by comparison with Bush the Lesser. Mr Hekate has an MBA himself, and he follows Obama quite well. I have my own degrees and while econ is not my subject, I know intelligence when I see it. We also know good teachers when we see them, and Obama's ability to explain complex subjects so the average person can understand them is damn good. That doesn't mean the average person has an open mind, but I have never heard Obama talk down to an audience.
