| Will Buy it now Meg outflank Boxer and support the initiative to legalize marijuana in California? |
|
I think Boxer made a big mistake by taking any position at all on a non fed issue, should have tossed it to Brown.

| 1. She must have hired Bob Shrum or one of the other sure-fire loser consultants |
|
she has a strong base of support here in California as the more progressive of our two senators, but lately, she has bee saying stuff that is frankly offensive, like when she said the health care reform bill must be good because it offends both the right AND the left. Who exactly is she representing then?
Some of our elected Democrats act like progressive heroes when they are in the minority, but when they have the power to do something, they go all corporate on us.

| 12. it shows she is either out of touch with voters or trying to placate two very narrow business groups |
|
Those who profit from the War on Drugs and those who profit from drugs.
Both would have to find a new line of work if pot was legalized.

|
I hope Senator Boxer kicks her butt from one end of the state to the other.

| 15. mitchtv, you're right. I'm supposed to know that. By reflex I'm eager |
|
to see someone like Whitman out of the public arena.
The recent polls show that Democrats face tough battles in both the Senate and gubernatorial races.

| 4. Jerry Brown has already indicated he's not in favor of the initiative |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-03-10 10:51 PM by Zorro
He's also inoculated himself on this being made a discriminating issue in the election.
The strategic goal for both Boxer and Brown is to get elected this November. Declaring to not be in favor of the initiative is part of the political calculus.

| 6. They must not think it will pass |
|
If they thought the majority of Californians would pass it, then they would go for their votes. I think it will pass overwhelmingly, so I believe they are making a big mistake.

as getting California's finances in the black and economy back on track.

All my donations and time are going to NORML and the legalization effort.
