| Michelle Obama and Jill Biden in Haiti! |
|
Per MSNBC.
Hope we get some real coverage on this! Cause I know that the reporting on the Nuclear Summit has been spotty!
Thus far, according to Chuck, Michelle should have done this a long time ago! :eyes:

mediawhores always have to add some swarmy little comment of their own to show how superior they are.
I say it's the exactly the right time.

|
goal for the trip? Can you imagine those two moving through this country helping to get the homeless housed. I think putting these dynamic duo together could start a wonder change toward helping those in need.... Looking forward to seeing how this develops.

| 7. I saw it as 'breaking news' on MSNBC, but there was no footage. I'm happy to |
|
hear they're there, and bringing the spotlight back to Haiti -- it's fallen off the media radar, of course.

| 8. MSNBC said it was a 'surprise' (which may be why there were no camera crews |
|
awaiting their arrival, or at least they didn't show footage). Apparently the First Lady was scheduled to go to Mexico (don't know if it was with or without Jill Biden), so the media was surprised they were in Haiti. I'm thinking if there was a specific goal, it would have been on Mrs. Obama's posted schedule, but that's just my guess.
Andrea Mitchell commented that this (and I'm assuming the trip to Mexico) is the first time Michelle is dipping into the International pool. She'd be a wonderful representative for us abroad.

| 14. Wow, two strong, caring women together to help people in need. |
|
I'll bet they're having a whale of a time, too! Traveling with gal pals can be such fun, but also these two women can GET THINGS DONE.
Can't wait to see some pics...

Earlier there would be criticism for that, or the faux concern for tax payer money or how Michelle exhaled.

| 12. When high-level politicians or celebrities show up too soon on the ground.... |
|
Sometimes they can bring welcome attention, but as has been pointed out here they also cause a logistics nightmare on the ground and divert emergency resources in the immediate aftermath.
For Michelle and Jill to show up now when Haiti has fallen off the news-radar is probably the best thing. They can move around more freely, talk to people, and see for themselves how rebuilding is progressing.

| 17. Here's a quote from Michelle on why they're in Haiti now and |
|
not earlier. "It was important for Jill and I to come now because we’re at the point where the relief efforts are under way, but the attention of the world starts to wane a bit,” she said. “As we enter the rainy season and the hurricane season…the issues are just going to become more compounded.”http://www.positivelybarack.com/2010/04/13/michelle-obama-visits-haiti/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+positivelyBarack+%28positivelyBarack.com%29
