The over 65 crowd vote every single time.. and especially during primaries.

This group is fairly conservative also.. Your older liberals and Baby Boomers just coming into that stage, and their full numbers in that age range will not be reflected for another 7or 8 years.. so during Primaries it is especially important that we get ourselves and juice up our co workers etc to get out and vote.. Otherwise everything gets skewed.

They are about as liberal as anyone who ever lived. They vote in primaries, etc. They don't work much for candidates anymore because they are old, but they still stay somewhat active. So please don't paint all elderly people with a broad brush by saying they are more conservative.

3. Truth is truth... The Conservative Elderly are out there.. and big time.

My Mom is 80, and very liberal. But just sheer numbers of the Korean War group is much more likely to be republicans than the WW2 group . The WW2 people are dying off.. and it is the Eisenhower republican groups who have more power in the senior set. Just sheer numbers. What you vote in your youth, tends .. let me repeat that tends to be how you vote and your inclination through out your life.

Basically the Kennedy Boomers are much more liberal than the Reagan Boomers.

I am at the precinct.. I know who is coming in and voting and what the trends are.

In every group you have the opposites, you have Reagan liberals, and Kennedy conservatives.. but trust me, there are definite generational trends by 10 to 15 year slots.. It is amazing

5. My parents are the Reagan Boomers (both 62) and they are definitely a very conservative group.

My age (34) and younger are much more liberal then our parents are. All of their friends and family members around their early 60's tend to all be very conservative as well. It is amazing but they still think Reagan was a God. My mom voted first for Ford and then for Reagan. I think they could have voted for Nixon but were very young and just not involved yet. My Dad voted for Carter (he was young and not corrupted) and then for Reagan. My parents worship the guy.

Just like no one says every last person in Texas is a tea partier. Where evidence permits, however, you can make general platitudes. Here, the evidence continually shows that people older than 65 vote more often than other groups and are frequently conservative.

If you wish to dispute the overall facts of the demographic, however, go ahead and do so. I don't think you can.

2. How to juice up co-workers, friends, colleagues, acquaintences etc?

The first thought that comes to mind is for the leadership to stop pandering to the right and making excuses for it.

Fact is, elections are fights- and who's willing to stand up and fight when the leadership and the issues that they're "supposed to" fight for not only takes them for granted, but is perceived to have more interest in what the opposition has to say?

The relatively "sane" ones, that is.

Back in Washington County, Oregon we had to put various bond measures and such on the ballot- and timing was everything.

Some of us were overruled when we noted that the best time (although not the most opportune time for the budgeting) was to get the matter before a larger section of the electorate.

And lo and behold-

Sad that that's the way it is even in a state with vote by mail, but that's just how it is. Gotta accept it- and work with it.
