| Republican Senators are Putting this Nation in Peril out of Pure Spite |
|
Placing holds on 70+ of Obama's appointments is absolutely criminal.
It is not a cute trick.
It is not a childish display of spite.
It is not shrewd political strategy.
It is dangerous, obstructive, and intensely ignorant. There is no wisdom in the holds, no intellect, no concern for the smooth functioning of our government.
I am beyond over waiting for the fools to step forward and admit just who the hell they are and just who the HELL they think they are.
If they continue to refuse to do their jobs, if they continue to obstruct our President (he's their President, too, whether they like it or not, and this is their country, going without key people in important departments due to this bullshit) they need to take their flag lapel pins and go back the hell home and let us replace them with humans who want to actually get up every day and do their jobs for the American people.
Enough of paying these fools to loll around and play "Here's Johnny."
I bet we could install their replacements in a fraction of the time it's taken to get Obama's appointments filled.
No problem.
damned Republican Assholes....... :grr:

I may not agree with all the appointments, but the obstruction has gone past the absurd.
It's bullshit.
So vented about it and now I'm taking my happy ass to bed.
And i will dream of Repuke Senators getting the karmic ass-whooping they truly deserve.
G'night DU

|
makes him deserving of having a good number of his office at a disadvantage to the nation? You've got to be bloody kidding me. I just don't know what to say to such absurd logic.

| 7. Of course I didnt say that. Of course the repukes are the problem. But why |
|
is Pres Obama actively supporting Blanche Lincoln, a republican in Democrat clothing over a true Democrat? Why would he support someone that often votes with the same repukes the OP is pissed at? We need to replace her and Ben Nelson and Alan Specter. It's bad enough when the republicans filibuster, it's worse when so-called Democrats support them.
Sen Lincoln needs to be voted out.

|
It is not blue dogs putting holds on political appointees. It is certain Rethugs. Obama supports all the incumbents that are running. In my opinion, he should just not get involved. The WH always has been involved in Congressional races in Dem and Repub administrations but really, I think just staying out of it is the best policy.

| 13. I think everyone over the age of 12 could tell you that it was probably |
|
part of an agreement to get her vote.
When you have to have a super majority in body that is not elected on a representative basis like the US Senate is then you have 100 prima dona ass holes that you have to deal with. Every President has to make deals like this to get anything passed.
Lincoln's opponent liberal credentials are questionable and Nate Silver rates Democratic chances in AK at 8%.

| 5. It ain't spite - it's strategy, and it's sadly working. |
|
Their belief is that if they block absolutely everything possible, they can say Democrats didn't do anything for the people (you know, despite the fact that Republicans wouldn't allow it, but people obviously don't pay attention to details), while simultaneously arguing that they needed to block these things because they're "too extreme". Sadly enough, it seems like the people are falling for it. It really doesn't make any sense to me that people would say, "You didn't fix things fast enough, so let's instead elect the people who both caused the problem in the first place AND stopped you from fixing it." This is why I don't value American democracy anymore.

| 9. The Rethugs have taken the filibuster, the use of holds, etc. and just abused it to death so |
|
people think govt. doesn't work. It does work....it just doesn't when Rethugs intentionally f*ck it up. Examples like Katrina and the crappy govt. contractors are what the Rethugs did on purpose.

| 15. Actually it is a shrewd strategy. Eventually, even the most sensible people will give up. |
|
They'll realize that:
A. These Senators don't have to live with the consequences of their decisions--their life is cush no matter what B. They have the will to convince themselves of whatever suits their interests, and hang on to that position for life.
No, it's a shrewd strategy. Eventually people will opt to have a functioning government rather than punish the right for their bad behavior.

It makes smart people dumb and leaders do terrible horrible things.
If they were really concerned with this country and not their own racial pride, they would have worked far harder on their arguments against the BIG FUCKING DEAL, the bailouts, the stimulus, and the upcoming Climate Change bill. Instead all we have from them are Frank Luntz talking points, lies, smears, and 1 page double spaced bullshit.
America may not be as racist as North Korea, but we certainly still have some ground to cover...

By installing the 3 that he did he may have thought this should nudge the Repugs. Well it hasn't so it's time to install all of them.
Screw the Repugs they are impacting National Security!
