The fact is, she did NOTHING. And now she can't really do much because she isn't the First Lady. She wants to sell books, and this revelation will likely do that.

Obama has done almost nothing for gay people except give them lip service, but there's still hope and time for him. We'll see. I find his disapproval of gay marriage to be very hypocritical, considering there are those who still find him unacceptable for any job other than a janitor due to the color of his skin.

Obama should know better, but he apparently doesn't. We'll see.

Those who said Obama would do nothing about gay rights this year have already been proven wrong. Others will be proven wrong again when DADT is repealed before he leaves office.

The president extended some benefits to the spouses of gay federal employees last June while voicing support for a House bill that grants them other rights. The State Department now allows married gay and lesbian couples to obtain passports with their married names. And the Census Bureau has agreed to release data on same-sex marriages.

It's not everything we want yet, but it's far from nothing and crickets.

11. Bushes have always played it this way...by design. Barbara always made sure it was hinted PUBLICLY

that she was prochoice so moderate Repubs would feel secure voting for Poppy. In the 2000 election, Laura did the same....not flashy, but, quietly so the target audience would be aware of it and believe W was more moderate privately and only PLAYING to the RW.

She knows that family is evil and she goes along for the ride. She's only trying to make herself look better PUBLICLY and so the NEXT Bush running for the presidency can pull the exact same scams on the social moderates as they used before.

the relevance is that gay marriage is not a radical thing. Especially the way she says it, she says a lot of people are scared of gay marriage, but they shouldn't be. I remember hearing around when Ford died a news story about Ford being disappointed with how far right the GOP was moving, and he specifically mentioned that he was also very disappointed with the elder Bush and his wife because, in his words, "I know damn well they're both pro-choice" and he didn't like how they hid it/denied it. When asked about Ford's accusations Bush claimed it wasn't true, but his wife admitted to being pro-choice.
