5. I think Specter is less terrible then Lieberman.

I hate having Lieberman as my Senator. He just really is a total egotistical jerk. Specter does not come off that way, just desperate. Specter is better then Toomey but I do hope a real Dem comes in there. Time for Specter to retire. Sestak would make a much better Democrat.

6. In the end, the same problem

It's that odd sense of entitlement that senators can get. They are the office. One would think that a senator that no longer had the support of his electorate would be willing to move on. Instead, a bit like Crist and Lieberman, they try to find some other way of working the polls.

11. True. But the problems for Crist and Specter and some other moderate Repubs is they

no longer fit in with their party and hence, go the independent route or try to act like Dems to get elected again. Like we want them. The Repub party is now having people like Bob Bennett knocked out of it. Moderate Repubs are the dying breed, which I think makes governing just more polarized in the long run. New England liberal Repubs like Chafee and Rudman are long gone. Snowe and Collins are more conservative then that and they are about it.

I really feel Lieberman was a unique case. I grew up here in CT. Lieberman started out as a moderate Dem and slowly over the years just kept going to the right. After 9/11 he really got even worse. He had more Rethugs vote for him then Dems or indies, it was 70% of Rethugs voting for him in 2006 (including my conservative parents). No one kicked Lieberman out of the party with non acceptance, he kicked himself out by pandering with the terror crap. He should just have been a Repub but then he could not have fooled some independents and Dems to vote for him. People learned their lesson, his approval is in the toilet.

We had a lot of senators with worse voting records than Specter since he switched

He'll be just another in a long line of conservadems that we'll have to deal with. And don't think Sestak won't notice which side his bread was buttered on. Because if he doesn't, he'll be in danger of being another one termer.

Most of PA has paperless voting machines and we know where the state government (run by Rendell) who runs the voting machines, wants this to go.

Just saying there might be some hinkiness to overcome. I won't be comfortable unless Sestak as a 10-point lead in several polls going into Tuesday.
