After that, Bill Clinton was Republican-Lite foreign policy president.

Edited on Thu May-13-10 05:29 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
that this November will be virtually a repeat of 1994 and that, IF Pubs take Congress, they will hang on to it for through 2016. It's a little too early to make EITHER assumptions IMHO.
President Obama has been unwilling to cave to the Republicans on a lot of things- civilian trials for terror suspects, wanting to close Gitmo, completing comprehensive health care reform. On any one of those things (even though some of them haven't been finished as of yet), he could've done the politically *sensible* thing and give the Pubs exactly what they wanted but he didn't/hasn't. He has been willing and capable in calling out the Republicans for their shenanigans too. I don't think that a bad midterm- no matter how bad it ends up being- is going to magically transform him into "Republican-Lite" POTUS. If anything, I think that President Obama and the Democratic Party would actually do well to play off the Republicans if they get into office.

It's not enough to have a veto power to prevent bad laws. There are new laws we simply must have. We can't have them if the Rs control Congress. And I guess I really don't care you you think deserves what. It remains a fact that Washington is controlled by the Hill and not the WH.

and would likely have hastened the demise of the Republican's control of congress.
