| Rachel Maddow's "Geek Week" |
|
Who digs Rachel's "Geek Week?" I think they're deserving of some kudos! They are interesting, fun and informative. Something that is sadly missing on almost all other shows where hate and anger generally rule the day.
The cable news shows discuss the same shit every night, with the exception of Rachel who, even when covering the same shit, undercovers different shit. Like the 1979 oil leak in the gulf that took 9 months to cap. WTF? Why is she always the only one to do her homework and provide her viewers with timely and informative material? I don't know, but I'm just glad she does.
Her "Geek Week" segments are a welcome respite from all the depressing news about the oil spill, attempted terrorist attacks, Republicans, people who can't find jobs, war, teabaggers, and more Republicans. They're light short little segments that are interesting, and completely different from anything else you see on TV news. You actually learn something. Who'd a thunk you could learn something from watching the cable news? Not I. In fact, I had no idea the World Trade Center was actually being rebuilt. I thought they were still fighting about it. I did know about the color coding that's used on aircraft carriers, but I didn't know what each color was for and thoroughly enjoyed her segment yesterday. I'm mad that I missed Monday and Tuesday's segments but have no doubt they were equally as good.
So, THANK YOU RACHEL, and kudos to you and your staff for thinking outside the box. You're original, and that's important.
Here's to geeks!
:toast:
That is all.

| 2. Indeed - and I love that she fully embraces being a "geek" |
|
She is smart TV for smart people. Which is why all of the right wing knuckle-dragger's hate her.
"Oh! and have you seen that MADOFF woman? God who watches that crap!"
Said a right wing bible thumper at my office recently, to which I responded...
"I do, asshole. She's a fucking Rhodes Scholar unlike those dropouts that you jerk off to each night on Fox News"
Invisible sky being worshipers generally hate smart. Smart isn't part of their overall philosophy.

| 3. One thing she said that I didn't understand about the World Trade Center... |
|
... no offices are below the 20th floor because some are still worried the building could be a target for terrorism. Would you not then WANT a building lower the ground?
Most of the people who died on 9/11 were on the very top floors.

Two of them, capped together. It'll be interesting to see who in the office "gets it".
