21. To me Rachel is very unique in that

she uses her brain to look at the whole picture and doesn't go off all knee jerk..kinda like the President in that way.

And, neither one are perfect but I like how they always try to think things through.

15. You got an approximate value on extinctions, sea mammal deaths, human sickness, oxygen depletion,

destruction of base plant and plankton, spawning grounds, eventual water table toxification, mutations, loss of coral reefs, loss of barrier islands, and the subsequent potential damage to the cost from hurricanes? That's just off the top off my head and easily predictable probable damages while ignoring some of the obvious stuff that might pay claims.

Sometimes you cannot unscrew the pooch and it becomes important to not screw the pooch and if you do then to mitigate the fall out from the seminal event as best you can. BP is doing a lot of ecological damage that need not be and that no amount of money can undo and even if you could arrive at a figure it would be far greater than the mere value of even this behemoth.

We are past the point where we can just put shit on the tab and call it cool. Money simply doesn't fix everything and if some of that damage can be prevented it is worth more than green pieces of paper to preserve what can be and certainly to put a stop to wanton destruction of much that is precious beyond every scrap of gold on this globe.


What is so hard about getting that this is outside human scope????? I don't get it.

What the fuck is 11 billion in this day and age? 10 billion might not be enough to do the genetics work to replace a solitary wiped out species. 11 billion is just a dent in replacing those wetlands. 11 billion ain't paying for generations of lost way of life or food supply. 11 billion won't replace oxygen in the water.
