7. Not just white people but "real American" white people.

Small town, conservative Christians. Not progressive whites, because apparently we aren't really white or real Americans. Actually from watching the coverage of almost every campaign the only real Americans are white people in small conservative towns who hang out at diners.

If there is any reason for those saying they aren't voting this round to do so it is to put this meme to bed once and for all.

It's time to bury the "white conservatives are motivated" meme that the media shoves down our throats every election once and for all. Even if it kills some progressives to do so.

The people they think are stupid are progressives who will fall for this crap and stay home.

This has been the rethuglican strategy for decades. That is why we have the right wing constantly spewing racial hatred at Obama, and why they are positively gleeful at his mosque at ground zero remarks.

This is the only card the rethuglicans have. They use it because it is effective--especially in difficult economic times. Rather than blame their white corporate masters, working class whites are taught to blame black, brown, and yellow people for taking their jobs.

The only good news is that soon, very soon, white working class people are going to be in the minority and so the rethuglican strategy will fail, even though it will remain effective for that slim slice of the electorate.

No middle class or poor person regardless of race should be voting Republican. Just look at their agenda and the interests they promote.

I'm sure the Southern Strategy will work on some yet again, and I'm hoping the sensible folks resist it.
