CT Senate--Blumenthal (D) widens his lead to 15-points in internal tracking poll

SENATE SIREN – BLUMENTHAL STRONG: Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has widened his advantage over Republican wrestling executive Linda McMahon to 15 points, the Democrat’s internal tracking poll shows. The Democratic firm Greenberg Quinlan Rosner has Blumenthal holding steady with a majority of the vote and leading McMahon, 53 percent to 38 percent. The pollster notes in a memo that McMahon’s public image remains deeply problematic, and “large numbers of Connecticut voters hold unfavorable views of McMahon.” Her favorability rating in the survey was 32 percent, while 47 percent said they had an unfavorable impression of her. The poll tested 600 likely voters on Oct. 3 and 4. Read the polling memo here.

Keeping the Senate is certainly better than the alternative, but it's not going to feel like a win.

And we need at least one more race beyond that to keep Lieberman and/or Nelson from shafting us (again).

About how much Dems are going to lose. Even when a Dem is up they find a way to put a negative spin on it. Also given the climate and that the party in power usually loses at least a few seats if we manage to stop the loses enough to keep the Senate and perhaps the House which I am less confident about everyone should celebrate imo. Dems would have managed to beat off some mighty head winds against them.

...but nine seats would be a big loss. We can only lower expectations so much. I can't think of anyone (who doesn't have an odd attraction to toes) who actually expects the republicans to win the Senate.

And that's easy to do (and often correct). If you've been a senator for two or three terms and you only lead by 46-44... you're in big trouble.

Yes... but not nine. They didn't even pick up that many in '94 (nor did we in 2006 or 2008). Losing six would suck by we might be able to spin it as exceeding expectations. Nine is a loss.

13. Dems have won 2 cycles and the White House some of them in districts that we truly had no business

winning. Someone on the board said a while ago that we were overextended. I agreed with that assessment and feel part of our loses would be a natural correction along with the other factors taking place. In any case I would simply be happy if we managed to hold on to the Senate and House.

It usually means they're trying to fight a bad cycle...

...but this is reasonably consistent with both PPP and Rasmussen polls so I'm not too concerned.

Can't imagine why he felt the need though.

campaigned that hard yet...Obama may do about 7-8 rallies between now and then!!!

12. All polls in CT show him ahead, somewhere between 8 and 12. So, this one is more or less in line.
