There's no good explanation for Obama's commission, or it's co-commisioners, other than an attack on Social Security.
Both co-commissioners have made deals to slash Social Security and the past and have continued to maintain that it needs to get cut. And Obama has said that we need to go after "entitlements", and has refused to rule out a cut (while he's ruled out privitization).
What would it take for you to recognize that an attack is underway?

I don't think so.
Did you come up with that Death Panel thing that was floating around too?
If you would have given me a direct link to Krugman I might have bothered reading it, but it's to your own repeated interpretations of something that doesn't yet exist with a lot of What Ifs strewn about.

| 14. No, Obama has been solidly slightly center left. |
|
which is about as far as the make up of the Congress would allow him.
Now he will be forced right, because the makeup of congress moves all legislation in that direction.
It is going to be an ugly 2 years.

Now, if you compare us to the rest of the world, the Democrats are Center Right and Republicans are far right. Teabaggers are right wing ultranationalists.

American politics is actually rather easy: call your enemy a skunk and actually fight, and you can win. The very idea that our President has done anything other than cringingly ask permission from the reactionaries is laughable. He makes Clinton look like a bomb-thrower. He makes Carter look like the Tasmanian Devil. He makes Perry Como look like Alice Cooper. This is ridiculous.
Someone's got to have the spine to look the reactionaries in the face like Carville has on his occasionally lucid moments like when he asked a trog "What's George Bush ever done for the little guy?"
Let's get serious here: a fairly broad swath of the populace just voted for the Republicans because they actually think they'll help the common folk more. It's hard to strategize in the face of that kind of abject idiocy, but one necessary component is to call out the bullshit. Call out class warfare: literally use the term and say that the monarchists are using this for their own retrenchment of power. Right. Like that's going to happen.
What are the plans for these "jobs" they're going to create? What are these jobs, and how are they going to magically wave some wand and make them? That's the kind of thing one is capable of doing with socialistic public works projects, but even Obama can't bring himself to THAT. He's the guy who had the jaw-dropping silliness of being publicly proud to state that 90 percent of the stimulus money would go through private industry. Some populist. That's not even that near center.
What are these budget cuts they plan? Good luck with that.
The rock-throwing frat-boys and country club poseurs now have the wheel, so let's see what they do.
A REAL leader would give 'em a listen, but not promise a thing, then pay out plenty of line and let them run with it before reeling them back in. Fat chance with this operation.

Funny, huh?
Are you aware that Zappa was one of his mentors?
He's also vocal about pop stars shutting up on the subject of politics.

With majorities in both houses of congress Obama leaned center/right...now with repubs controlling the House and significant gains in the Senate i see even less of a chance Obama will even dare to look at repubs the wrong way.

choice but to do this or do it the cheap way and try triangulation. Reagan used the force of his personality and his pullpit to rhetorically pull the country right in spite of not having control of the house. There's no reason why Obama shouldn't try to do the samething.

You want him to be fucking Ronald Reagan now?
The problem is the the same as when Harry Truman said it, when given a choice between a democrat who acts like a republican and a real republican Americans will always vote for the latter.
