| Democrats lost, because alot of people did not vote. |
|
A lot of people hate voting, because it requires thinking, and most Americans are lazy when it comes to politics.

| 1. LOL. It is true a lot of independents did not vote like they should have. |
|
Don't forget they also use these voter rolls to force you into jury duty. I voted in spite of this threat. The courthouse is about 15 miles from me and it's pretty cold in the morning on my bicycle. Additionally, the area is infested with thorns(called goat-heads). DUers usually are pro-jury duty but for most Americans it sucks. Hey--why should I have to go to jury duty if they aren't going to put the real criminals on trial: Bush has committed crimes against humanity and he's nothing but a coach potato--no death penalty yet. And don't forget the foreclosure mills. The law, aka sheriff, isn't putting them in jail. But the "law" is still forcing people from their homes.

| 18. They're already registered. They voted in 2008. |
|
There was just a certain sector who wanted to vote for Obama, period, and that was that. They didn't even turn out six weeks later - THE SAME PEOPLE, THE SAME ELECTION - to secure 60 seats in the Senate in Georgia. Imagine the difference that would have made.
I don't know if it was all youth vote or not. I worked with a lot of people who never expressed any interest in politics, but got very starstruck by Obama's cool factor, put up screensavers of him on their computers, took time off work to go to his rally - and then I never heard a political peep out of them again. One of them moved to Arizona and I can almost guarantee she didn't vote, even though my goodbye email to her at work cheerfully reminded her to register to vote once she got there. I got no response from her on that.
This was almost predictable from the moment the votes were counted in 2008. Plenty of people warned that these voters wouldn't stick. And they didn't. They voted Obama into office and ever since, have consistently denied him the tools he needs to govern, starting with the Georgia senate race.
I don't know if it's a short-sttention span factor, the expiration date that so many people under 30 seem to put on everything they use, a real lack of understanding about how government works - or, probably, a combination of all those things.

"Well, if you can take time to veg out on your couch watching those idiotic reality shows, or spend ten hours a week playing Halo Wars online, you can certainly spend one hour once a year to take the time to vote."

I like the way Mexico does it.
Election day in Mexico is considered a "national holiday". All the businesses are closed, the bars too, so that the people have no reason not to vote.
We need to do that in this country. Make election day a national holiday.

| 4. Could we Democrats bear some responsibility. Since the |
|
Innaugeration of Obama the GOP has been out there campaigning like h--- for last night's election.
Our Party did it's usual failing practice. Waited until Sept to start serious campaigning after the country had been fed 2 years of smears against Democrats and Democratic Party.
There is something to be said for a party who has ideolgy , a set of beliefs felt so strongly that people can campaign for that party at any time.

we want things fixed now that took years to break. We hate black people, brown people, muslins?, women, gays, mexicans, taxes......We don't squawk as we engage in 2 unfunded illegal wars, spy on Americans, allow banks and the stock market to steal our retirements......think ruining our oceans, rivers and lakes is OK as long as someone profits. Think government should be off our backs unless it it telling women what to do with their bodies, and others who they MAY NOT marry. We have no idea how congress works and what has been done by lawmakers. Having an education makes you "elite"......gawd help us

| 15. Everything you listed, most Americans either do not know, care, or |
|
are afraid of and accept. We will become a third world nation, because idiocy reigns supreme. Alot of voters celebrate the ignorant. Intellectualism is a handicap when running for office; which is why you hear presidents dumb down their rhetoric so the morons can understand them, relate to them. Intelligence makes you an elitist snob. This is why America has fell off.

But suddenly they make decisions we dislike and they are? Voters are angry and in the mood to smash shit up. It's what voters do in fucked-up economic times. Human nature.
