| Poll question: Which is the most preferable makeup of the House? |
|
There are a lot of people that have posted here the past few days that they are GLAD that lots of Blue Dogs lost to Republicans.
Look... Progressives are better than Blue Dogs..... but Blue Dogs are better than Republicans, no? Especially when it means losing the Speaker's gavel!
I would submit that any progressive that would select the first choice over the second choice is insane.
And no... it is not a "False Choice". The districts that the Blue Dogs lost were conservative districts. Progressives would have ZERO chance to win there. The only reason those districts were won in '06 and '08 is because a Democrat needed to be conservative to win them.
It is always better to have the Speaker's gavel in Nancy Pelosi's hand instead of John Boehner's. Always.
Not to mention having all of the committee chairs.

| 1. Blue dogs are not better than Repukes... |

I do believe it is a false choice. We do not need a party of Republican Lite. If the electorate wants Republicans, they can vote for them. They should not dilute the Democratic party.
And there is a difference between a Progressive, a Moderate, and a Blue Dog which are Conservative. While those seats would not have gone to a progressive, they may have gone to a moderate which is impossible when the incumbent is a Blue Dog/DINO.

| 2. Did the Blue Dogs vote with the Republicans... |
|
100 percent of the time?
Find a Blue Dog that voted with the Dems less than 60 percent of the time.
Yes I know that is not a great percentage, but I would much rather have that 2nd makeup, than the first, since those are the only two choices. Find a Republican who voted with the Democrats more than his/her own party.
Blue Dogs, while they piss the hell out of us sometimes, are not the same thing as Repukes.

| 3. We want the Speaker's gavel and the committee chair seats... if we have to roll 30 blue dogs into |
|
our caucus, then it is worth it.
What is about to come the next two years is MUCH MUCH MUCH worse than what we just had.

Because winning isn't going to be an option.
And there is a difference between a Progressive, a Moderate, and a Blue Dog which are Conservative.
No. Blue Dogs are anywhere from moderate to conservative. They're just actual moderates... not liberals who were scared off of using the label during the Reagan era and prefer to be called moderates.

| 6. The question is simple"Which is the most preferable: Speaker Pelosi or Speaker Boehner" |
|
For me, it is an easy one: even if I disagree with the Blue Dogs, I vote for Speaker Pelosi.
