If the right-wing want to destroy Obama, whether Obama is weak or strong, there is nothing Obama can do.

Now I do think he needs to get a hell of a lot tougher the next two years, and show the republicans, and blue dog democrats, that they do not control congress or the WH! But to go and on about him being weak, or we need to run someone else against him in the primaries, or that he is no better than McCain would have been, are nothing more than right wing talking points and they need to stop! It's been the right wing plan to get democrats divided, and they come on her pretending to be democrats and spew their bile, and sadly many democrats buy into their BS!
Yes, the president and congress need to stand up to the republicans, yes they need to regain the faith of the base, and yes it will be a hard road for the next two years, but the man has accomplished a hell of a lot, and he can do a hell of a lot more. We can complain, but we don't have to resort to right wing talking points that are doing nothing more than dividing the party.

and have been rewarded accordingly. Perhaps, they see the big bucks Beck brings home and are willing to sell out the middle-class to get theirs.

1) Fight and get taken down
2) Just get taken down.
I prefer option #1 cause it makes it a lot easier to look at myself in the mirror.

I was going to say: Maybe it's not that the president is weak; maybe it's time we stop wondering whether he's naive, playing chess or needs a psychologist and assume that he's doing what he means to do.

with all the disruption, chaos, and unintended consequences they cause? I don't. Effective changes happen gradually, and start on the margins. Reagan and Bush didn't get much of the fire-breathing conservative agenda passed, but they changed the direction of the country.

| 44. Can you imagine how much worse the 2008 crisis would be if Glass-Steagall had still been around? |
|
One of the main reasons we could keep the whole thing from going over a cliff was because, with Glass-Steagall repealed, retail banks could step in and buy the troubled investment banks (BoA with Merrill, etc.) The banks that got into trouble weren't the ones that had been regulated by Glass-Steagall.

I've had it with Big Ed, he had a chance to put his name on the ballot and run for senate and he punked out. He needs to sit his ass down somewhere. He wasn't willing to get in the game, just sit on the side line and be a part of the bitch patrol.

I support getting the hell out of Iraq and Afghanistan and don't support the current policy.
Perhaps I needed to add "start endless wars"... my bad.
That said, Big Ed is one that never seems to do his homework and always goes for the low hanging fruit of hyperbolic horseshit. Jus' sayin'.

It's not that simple.
In order to stop the war, he needs votes. He's not a monarch. Last I checked...
That said, I could show you photos of me in San Francisco protesting the wars back in 2003 and send some MP3s of songs I've written where I obviously show my dislike of these wars...

Then we all go back to our own little ideological fiefdoms.
Same thing that happened to the GOP; they essentially disintegrated by the end of Bush's term with the far right absolutely giving up on W and the other "moderate" Republicans for trying too hard for bipartisanship, being weak, not "fighting" enough, etc.

Yet, the flingers have as much consideration for "collateral damage" as Cheney does.
And while the flinging goes on, another day goes by that the Dems lose to fight for the court of opinion about a Progressive agenda in the MSM as well as supporting politicians who could help win back seats in Congress.

And he wasn't willing to "fight" and "force a filibuster" (from conservatives' perspective) with his tax cuts, so he used reconciliation, which is why they will automatically disappear on January 1st. And, yes, he was accused on conservative forums of caving in and secretly being a Democrat at heart.
