Why the hell would he NOT want to take a strong public position in opposition to the extension of these millionaire tax cuts? He has public opinion on his side, he has the leadership in the house on his side, and he can surely browbeat Harry Reid into moving the "Obama Middle Class Tax Cuts" forward.

It's a win win but he's still talking this mealy mouthed working together bullshit. Now that Rahm Emanuel is gone who is giving him this crappy advice?

Imagine how much more support there would be for letting tax cuts expire on the rich if democrats were actually on the news every day accusing republicans of holding middle class tax cuts hostage in order to give tax cuts to the wealthiest 2%.

Imagine how much better off we'd be if the house and senate actually had a vote on the tax cuts, with the richest 2% tax cuts and everyone's elses as separate votes. If republicans killed the middle class tax cuts then we could have gone into the election shouting that republicans have proven that they only care about tax cuts for the rich, not for middle class people like the rest of the us.
