The one man minority ruler of the Senate is Mitch "Emperor of the Rich" McConnell. The only way to beat him and his Army of No is to take away his ability to prevent all bills from even being debated. He is responsible for the Senate not getting anything done.

This is Public Enemy Number One. It is time to call him out on his War against the Working People of the United States. He is against DADT. He is against jobs programs. He is against the Dream Act. He and his minions are the enemies of democracy. Stop him and his war against the Middle Class.

The Republican Minority is running the show. We don't have 60 Democrats and will have less in January. Time to change the rules and stop the Minority from ruling the Senate.

Current Senate rules say any Senator can threaten a filibuster on any bill before it is even brought to the floor for debate. This requires a 60 vote super-majority to end the filibuster and start debate on the bill. Republicans have been using the filibuster since they lost the majority in the Senate during the last two years of the Bush term.

This is the rule that needs to be changed. This can be done when the Senate reconvenes in January.

that's why they had to sunset in 10 years. Filibusters can't stop Reconciliation.

25. They were able to do that because there was a Surplus thanks to Clinton!

At the time the tax cuts would not affect the Surplus, hence they were able to use reconciliation and had Cheney's vote to break the tie. Reminder, even McCain voted against the tax cut because he thought it was wrong to do it during a time of war.

Because there is no longer a Surplus, the Democrats cannot pass anything that can't be paid for.

ALSO during this time the Republicans were threatening to use the NUCLEAR OPTION to break and end the filibusters the Democrats were using to stop the giveaways to the rich.
