Obama has one more chance

If DADT is repealed and Obama's "compromise" with the Republicans is passed, then he can come out and declare that the Democrats, despite enormous Republican resistance, advanced equality for gays and won tax breaks for the middle class, and the only thing the Republicans got out of this deal was tax cuts for the wealthy and for those with estates worth more than $2 million. If he uses this legislation to begin labeling and defining the Republicans, then at least I'll be willing to give him another chance. But, if he uses these accomplishments as a basis for continued "bipartisanship," then I will certainly not give a penny to the Obama for President campaign, and will look seriously for a Democrat who has some guts.

with the more likely scenario where DADT (and the DREAM Act) fails and the Tax package passes with overwhelming puke support, lackluster dem support? Where is the "enormous Republican resistance" to the tax deal you speak of?

3. Audacity of Hope.

Is it audacious to hope for a president who will stand by his campaign positions?

DADT Repeal, Dream Act and START Treaty.

If we don't get two out of three, we may as well have elected McCain.

If DADT fails in the legislature, there is no reason not to do away with the policy via Executive Order. Unless he's afraid od annoying his new right wing pals.

You know that.

Hope doesn't mean you always succeed- Pres. Obama is TRYING. Maybe not as hard as you think he should, maybe you aren't aware of how hard, maybe he hasn't tried as hard as I'd personally like on some issues, but he's accomplished or tried to accomplish things that McCain would have fought and soundly WON in the opposite.

Like no health care reform at all. We'd almost assuredly be at war with Iran, forget any hope for the dream act, the start treaty, or any chance of ending the tax-cuts. As for help for the unemployed? dream on. And you know his feelings on DADT.

Think about it. It's ok to be frustrated and angry. but lets not be stupid.
