7. For my own part, I agree.

I always assign the president a goodly share of responsibility in legislative outcomes. And I like to take a crack at those who assign credit but never blame, or vice versa.

After all, it's not like the President can't control when bills are brought up or not, and can't control how the opposition votes, but CAN do things like keep issues on the agenda, initiate studies that give cover to Republican Senators, and encourage people to pressure Congress. And it's not like this would certainly have NEVER gotten done without a Democratic President no matter what our majorities.

The President did not have control of Congress. Congress agreed. So now he can sign it. They both did it. As the Constitution calls for.

But people who blamed the President because Congress had not done it need to be honest and give him all the credit. He got all the blame, he gets all the credit.

Even President Obama's influence is not enough to get what he wants every time. No president gets what he wants all the time, even when his party controls Congress but much less so when the GOP is bent on obstructionism at almost every legislative turn.

Those who accused President Obama, his supporters, and the Democratic Congress of all manner of nasty things were wrong in not seeing that achieving legislative goals takes time, strategy and timing.

13. The homophobes in today's military are the racist in the 1950's

and 1960's military. Many said they would quit if desegregation was implemented....guess what they didn't quit and they did their jobs.

Reasonable people can have a difference of opinion on the gays in military issue, or in abortion issues, etc. As long as they're not tea party loonies, there's no need to call them names, unless they called you names.

When I was listening to the hearings before Congress, I didn't hear anyone call the gays in the military names.
