Will Dems fall short of majority for jobs bill?

As I noted below, it’s becoming clearer and clearer that Dems may not be able to muster a simple majority in support for Obama’s jobs bill in the Senate later today.

That’s because of likely uniform GOP opposition, yes, but also because some Senate Dems in red states appear to be prepared to vote against the jobs bill — even though what’s being voted on today is over whether it will go to the floor for debate.

And then there’s yet another category: Senate Dems who support the jobs bill but may not show up to vote today.

Jeanne Shaheen, the newly elected Dem Senator from New Hampshire, is scheduled to be in Boston tonight to accept the “New Englander of the Year” award, according to her Senate Web site. Needless to say, that coincides with tonight’s Senate vote on the American Jobs Act.

1. It's a pretty weak jobs bill anyway. It's nothing compared to what they handed out

to banksters.

2. Ugghh. This is why we can't get anything done. It is too much for all the Republicans and some Dems

and then people who should be supporting it don't really care. An additional 1.3 to 1.9 million jobs? yawn. An additional 2% growth? shrug.

3. This is one time they could show Unity and give out the Message

that the Democratic Party with the President supports the
Middle Class and is doing something about it.

When they lose the next election, remind them of opportunities
such as this, they simply threw away.

4. They'll just blame Obama and forget about the Senate Dems and the Dem groups

who failed to rally behind the Jobs Bill.

5. One other thing, if the Senate Dems can't get 51 votes for the Jobs Bill, don't ever ask why Obama

says "Congress" instead of "Republicans". It will prove that the problem is "Congress". Primarily, Republicans but those weak-assed Dems in the Senate too.

I mean, WTH is Jeanne Shaheen doing? Why would she do this? :wtf: Just stupid.

There's no law against it. Does he want it to pass or not? He has more leverage he can use.

How pathetic she is. We'll see how popular she is with NH dems when she's up for re-elaction. It's as if she's purposely sabotaging our state.
