Obama has a Dem opponent in NH--Darcy Richardson of FL

Darcy Richardson, a Democrat, reached out to former Labor Secretary Robert Reich and Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich, trying to find a progressive Democrat to run as a protest vote against President Obama.

When nobody stepped forward, the 55-year-old advertising manager and financial services consultant decided to run.

“I don’t think Obama’s been a fighter for the poor or working class,” Richardson said. “He’s done nothing to turn the economy around.”

Richardson feels Obama squandered the first two years of his presidency pushing for his health care bill, rather than addressing the economy. He believes the economic stimulus bill should have been bigger.

Richardson, who now lives in Florida, lost races in Pennsylvania in the 1980s for state auditor general and US senator. He worked for Senator Eugene McCarthy’s 1988 and 1992 presidential campaigns.

vs. two opponents--19.8% for Rep Paul McCloskey of CA & 9.7% for Rep. John Ashbrook of Ohio. Despite approximately 1/3 of the GOP vote abandoning Nixon he went on to win a landslide re-election victory in November.
