It's very convenient to be able to just reference an image URL in a message text and have the software drop the image in without any HTML code.
However, in long posts with images accompanying the text, it would be nice to format an image the way one would in a blog post or on a website with CSS and HTML, so the image can float left or right with text flowing around it. There are also some image URL's that don't end in .gif, .jpg, .tif, etc., so the software doesn't always recognize it as an image URL.
Thus, while I think you should keep the image functionality as it is, I would like to request that you add support for the full HTML "img" tag.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to program, or what the security implications are, but I'll mention it to Elad.
