I alerted on a crude, insensitive OP targeting a minority group and it was moved to the Lounge

Do you think this is funny?

The day after the military finally stopped ruining people's lives just because they are gay - the day after gay people finally obtained the very basic simple right to die for our country - this OP is allowed on DU? I alerted on it and it was moved to the Lounge. Please imagine a similar OP ridiculing any other minority group and ask yourself if it would be moved to the Lounge or deleted.

I think it is time for DU to seriously consider diversity training for moderators. I'm quite serious about this. Some of the mods do a wonderful job but there is obviously a problem of complete cluelessness on the part of others. Cluelessness or something worse.

2. That is exactly my point. Anybody confused about what to do with such a post needs educating.

There are on-line diversity training programs. I strongly recommend that DU invest in one of them for your mods. You need this.
