Can we discuss in GD the issue of Palestinian statehood now that it is a front page styory?

I understand the rule about such discussions being banned to the netherworld.

But now that it is front page news, can maybe at least one thread to try to discuss it more broadly be allowed?

I must admit, I have not had much of a chance to catch up with the news today so I don't really know what's going on with this story.

The rule about Israel and Palestine threads is that they must go into the Israel/Palestine forum unless there is big breaking news, in which case they may be discussed in the main forums. Unfortunately there is usually some "rules inertia" when big breaking news occurs and moderators continue to move things to I/P until we tell them not to. We did not give the moderators any instructions about allowing these threads in the main forums yesterday, which is why they continued to move them.

I never actually posted anything but wanted to get a read on what the rules are.

I understand about "rules interia" - good, descriptive term. Is there any way, with this story simmering and maybe ready to get hot, to alert the mods about allowing discussion in the big forums?
