| 2. It is very easy to cut the legs out from under the speculators (metaphorical of course). |

Call a press conference and announce that we are undertaking a radical turn in our demotic oil production. Announce that all Gulf oil permits will be expedited to have them all approved in the next month and that Alaska oil reserves will be opened and fast tracked for permit approval.
The bottom will drop out of the oil futures market in minutes.

I'd much rather see the oil companies' welfare end. Maybe if our government gave the consumers the subsidies (like several "third-world" countries) instead of the corporate goldhats making billions in profits, the price would be bearable.

| 6. Ending the subsidies would have a compounding affect on what we |
|
are already experiencing.
But if you notice, I did not say that we should DO those things. I only said that it should be announced that we should do those things. Speculating in the futures market is made up of a number if different facets. What I'm suggesting is to deflate one of those facets to put oil prices more in line with actual supply and demand.

As a former commodity trader I know of what I'm speaking.
