| So..........Does anybody think they know how the Republicans are going to "trump" this? |
|
(pun intended)
I would think that he would be virtually unassailable on foreign policy from here on out and he has one monumental accomplishment (even if it is mostly symbolic)to point to as a sign of his competency as POTUS. Plus the whole birther issue seems to be put to rest (among most sane and rational people). What's next for the GOP? WTH are they going to run on in 2012 now? Gas prices (while they're not doing anything about eliminating taxpayer financing of the very oil companies whom are giving us the outrageously high prices)? the Ryan Medicare Voucher scheme (that most informed people are showing up at town halls to protest)? Unemployment (when they haven't proposed any job creation bills and are only talking about draconian spending cuts in government services and talking about refusing to raise the debt ceiling)?
If I were a Republican strategist right now, I'd be in full-blown panic mode right now. Things weren't looking particularly good for them before yesterday but I bet the picture for them has worsened considerably IMHO.

he didn't hold it off some months to fend off any recurrence of the main issue which is still the economy.
The luster will be gone, especially through MSM efforts, by then. Nothing of course can make the repulsive GOP look like an alternative. Maybe for self preservation some of them might do the sane thing and help the country? Not holding breath.

to the most people, you have to make at least a mention of President Obama. Even if you try to make it a throwaway. They're trying to act dignified. I saw a news conf with boner and eric cantor and the usual suspects, and they all looked so somber. How much of that was really sincere?

not unlike the feeling one is supposed to get when someone walks over your grave. Politically, that is probably close to the truth.
