16. Watching Platoon last night wife asked if there really were people like the Willem Defoe character?

Crawling into dark holes in the ground with one hand on a flashlight and the other on a pistol. The kid of person who would literally run straight at the enemy as fast as they could.

I told her yep, I worked with a guy who did that kind of stuff in Vietnam.

And you wouldn't know it either. Probably one of the most easy going guys I worked with. He never had a harsh word to say about anyone. Got along with everyone.

He never talked about any of it either. Only way I found out about his history was years later through word of mouth from other veterans at work.

He was a bad ass and you would never know it by just working and talking to him. I found out he had medals on top of medals.

23. I used to work in a garage for an old guy who said he was a SEAL.

He would tell me to hold my finger like a gun and with one hand, drop me to my knees in pain. He called it Defendo. He had all kinds of hand to hand combat tricks.
