Are you now advocating nationalizing our whole oil energy structure?
Oh? You mean it is to appease the speculators into not doing us harm? And you want to leave the oil subsidies in place so oil giants dont punish us? And we cant tax corps, or they will punish us? Or increase regulation on Wall Street, or they will punish us? Seems you advocate a frightened hostage situation with corps? And you call that adult?

and most people like to be able to fill up their cars and drive when they need or want to. The only way to lower the price is to increase the supply and that means more exploration and drilling.
Nationalize the oil companies? That's laughable - If we did that, we'd have even less domestic production that we do now. With the exception of the military, I'll take private industry over a nationalized company any day.

Too late. Corps have captured the Gov. Oh, not the kind of nationalizing you meant?

| 3. Speculating in commodities is very risky. A lot of them lost their shirts Thursday. |
|
I don't have any sympathy for them, but I have now problem with people trading futures contracts on commodities if they accept the risks. I mean government run corporations - in my opinion they generally do a crappy job.

| 7. Crappy like the US post office, like the water companies in our communities? |
|
I am on Social Security and it does the job it was meant to do as do Medicare and Medicaid. And they do not raise the cost of administration as do private companies. If they do it is regulated by someone who is elected not someone who we have no control over at all. I do not know if we need to nationalize energy companies as much as we need to regulate them.

Some water companies do a good job, but that is a lot less involved than crude oil production. I doubt the federal agencies you cited would be an improvement. In any case, they're hardly models of efficiency and cost control.

efficient than you do. As to oil - all I said is that they need to be regulated not nationalized.

But as long as the oil spills land on someone else's beaches, who cares?

So you trust profit over people then.
It does all boil down to a "Who do you trust?" choice. I trust people over profits. Which is why I say NATIONALIZE IT ALL! Expropriate the holdings of ALL general welfare types of businesses (including energy) and run them as nonprofits FOR the general population.

I'm not impressed with how our government manages most things either. Profit is the best motivator and strong competition will keep you on your toes.

| 6. Absolutely. But we need to nationalize the government first. |
|
Once we get the government out of private hands we can work on the rest.
