The U.S. Senate won over a key vote on Monday.
Louisiana U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu said Monday that she supports President Obama’s tax-cut compromise.
The Louisiana Democrat said the current measure will “really help low- and middle-income families.” She noted its extension of unemployment benefits and a proposed child tax credit, noting the advantages outweighed the disadvantages.
President Obama urged House Democrats to support the current measure.
“I understand those concerns,” he said. “I share some of them. But that’s the nature of compromise.”
Ms. Landrieu’s support follows her support of Vermont U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders’ filibuster of the bill on Friday. Ms. Landrieu joined Mr. Sanders during the nearly 9 hour filibuster.
