| Who here thinks that if Kerry was elected in 2004, Bin Laden would have been toast in 2006? |
|
Kerry is from the same school as Obama, in that he actually fucking THINKS about shit and doesn't play that stupid ass GUT bullshit.
The cons loved being conned.

I think I fall into this category too. Too much was too fishy in 2004, especially in Ohio. And, knowing the republi-CONS and their modus operandi, probably in other states too.

It would have been, of course, a well thought out plan.

Kerry is all gentleman -- no exaggerated threats, no swagger, no superficial bravado -- just real integrity and courage.
I really thought he was a great candidate and would have made a great president.
But for that time he was too much of a gentleman. Americans wanted the exaggerated threats, swagger and superficial bravado. They didn't want the real deal. And the whole country is suffering for it.

The BushInc loving media and our best known TV Dems at the time all sided with Bush. Thankfully, Biden came around to Kerry's view by the end of 2006, and both he and Kerry now have influence on Obama's military and foreign policy decisions.

The rest is history.
But that particular bit of history keeps repeating itself in Wisconsin, Tennessee, etc., etc., ad nauseum. And it will until we pass the Holt Voter Confidence Act to ban unverifiable voting equipment.

"he was caught when he was caught"
how very fucking charitable.
the fact remains, he was caught by people who could fucking think/plan/multitask (you know? like dealing with reality?) -- rather than go stumbling half cocked into Iraq.

He was caught by professionals working for the military and intelligence and law enforcement communities. The exact same folks who have been working on this exact task since likely long before 9-11. These professionals don't give a rat's ass who is sitting in the white house or which party controls congress.
Accepting this REALITY takes nothing away from Obama. He made a very difficult and dangerous political decision to go after him in Pakistan -- and by political I mean both in terms of his own personal political aspirations, but world politics. It was a tough call for a lot more reasons than the danger to the men on the ground.
Fighting for "credit" (as many in the GOP and a few here) seem to be doing is ludicrous. OBL is dead. We have been working towards this day for a decade and the Obama administration achieved it. The public understands this. The Bush defenders and credit steelers look, to the general public, like a first grade teacher rushing the stage at a college graduation and demanding props for starting the kid on his educational journey -- the public sees this, says "Yeah okay, now sit the fuck down."
But if the public at large sees the GOP likle first grade teachers demanding credit, they see the Obama administration like college professors at that same graduation. You DON'T see the professors trying to upstage the graduates either, they simply sit there smiling and congratulating the kids. The Obama administration understands this.
You need to as well. It's called allowing your enemies to make idiots of themselves.

He was more use to them as an invisible bogey man. They could justify plundering the US Treasury by just mentioning ObL's name. And emergency no-bid contracts were a snap for the same reason. Kerry would have cut through the bullshit and he would have brought him to justice one way or another.

The whole system was so dead set against it. I think in the highly unlikely event he had been sworn in circa '05, he would not have been around long enough to have taken this kind of action re: OBL.
That being posted, I'm sure he would have done everything in his power to stop global terrorism.
