| Should Obama have named the Seal team? |
|
A question my Mom asked. Not sure how she came to pose the q but a valid one anyway. She says now they are living in fear. Or should be for retaliation by Muslim Extremists. They were at the White House now everyone knows who they are.
Should they have been left to anonymity? Their stories told later rather than sooner?
Of course there is a huge financial trade off for being named. The books, the movies the careers living off the raid etc....

He looked uncomfortable, went on about his business, then laid said cricket at my feet about a half-hour later.

And, really, I don't think it actually happened. I'm kind of a news junkie (aren't we all here at DU?) and I'm fairly certain this would be discussed heavily on the cable shows.

I am absolutely certain their story will be told, and sooner rather than later...In fact the Director of 'The Hurt Locker' itself an oscar-winning war film, has already looked at turning her latest project into a story about the raid...

I asked her where she got the question and it was not from FOX. She mentioned this a few days ago too....In fact she watches more MSNBC than FOX and more Food Channel than anything.

yes, he should have.
Let's think about what most Americans know about the Navy SEALS pre and post ObL.
Pre-ObL: *They are tough. *Demi Moore was in a movie about them.
Post-ObL: *All of the above *There's at least 6 teams.
Yeah, I betcha they are just cowering in fear now. :eyes:

would know that it was either SEAL TEAM SIX, or a few other outfits.
The number of teams we have is really small, the community is really small... and the number of units that can do this is really small.
Counting support personnel... we are taking 5K people TOPS.
Oh and I forgot... identity of these people is HIGHLY CLASSIFIED.
There is more... NONE of those operators will make a red cent out of this. This is one of those missions that is deep sixed (IDs that is) so far down it is not even funny.
Perhaps in forty years... maybe... it will be safe enough when somebody will be allowed to speak.
