| Strauss-Kahn got busted the way he did because the NYPD had no idea who he was. |

People wonder why DSK was "taken down" the way he was. It's pretty simple. The NYPD got a 911 call and followed it to it's completion. They had no idea who this guy is.
I do wonder what would have happened if that plane took off. Would they have forced it to land? Would France have extradited? That's the reason why DSK hasn't gotten bail. He tried to flee to a country that BTW wouldn't hand over Roman Polanski.

| 1. I do not believe that we have an extradition agreement with |
|
France that would cover this incident. Perhaps that's another reason he is held without bail.

There is a video of the bail hearing running around.
The prosecutor very nicely lays out:
- caught while fleeing - access to resources to avoid capture - no ties to forum - lack of extradition agreement with France - no motivation to return to face charges

| 2. That was fast work on the part of the NYPD. Also, the maid, since she reported |
|
the attack promptly.
He was naive to think that he could just walk away, get on a plane and be done. Surely, he knew that since the hotel knew his name and the assault was in his room that it would be an easy lead to follow. The cell phone maneuver was brilliant, I must say. Again, he was naive, thinking no one knew anything and he could just say "bring me my cell phone, I'm sitting in an Air France plane at Gate such and such." That's gotta be the height of stupidity...

As long as there's a huge price for the victim, they won't report. Thank goodness the hotel maid reported it. It often takes one very brave person coming forward to send relief through all the victims. And then they feel free to report.
I'm still in shock that Clarence Thomas wasn't brought down by his hubris.

| 13. Polanski live in france for over 30 years before he was arrested in Switzerland |
|
The Swiss eventually released him instead of sending him to the US.
