Just came from the polls in PA

It's a primary election. Only registered voters can vote and they can only vote for the party of their registration.

The little old lady in front of me asked a great question. She wanted to know why we, the voters, had to register our party affiliation, but a Republican could cross file and be on the ballot as a Democrat. I had to laugh, because no one could answer her question.

2. I have to agree with her. We have a bunch of cross-filings

on our ballot too. Not that I don't know who the Dems are and who the Reps are anyways, but many people may not know. It sucks.

I was at the polls after work, and the workers told me that it has been very slow all day. They will not even get to 20% unless the end of the day picks up. What a shame! And we have several contested races at the city and county levels.

5. It is scarier than that.

In our city, it is so Democrat that Republicans don't even register as Reps. All candidates are on the Dem ticket with "no candidate" on the Rep ticket. So......the winners in the primaries will be the winners. People just don't seem to realize the impact of local elections.

4. The big deal at our polling place was that a dude was hassling the election judge.

The voter wanted the judge to know he had his gun with him.

6. That is a great question. One of the Republicans won a spot on the Democratic ticket (school board)

But my daughter, an independent, couldn't vote because they don't allow at-poll affiliation changes. New Hampshire did. I was an independent but I could walk in, change to whatever party's primary I wanted to vote in, and change right back to independent on the way out.
