Glitter is always appropriate. Gingrich is never appropriate.

speaking up and using your voice, even loudly, even rudely is A-OK, throwing stuff on people is not, I don't care who they are.

it is also just plain stupid. When a man you oppose is simmering in the juices of his own stupidity, you leave him there.

if he saw it then it was assault and battery, but nowadays, the common term is assault (e.g. there is no "battery" offense in the military it is all assault).

What was it meant to convey anyway?
I get the whole throwing shoes at Bush thing because its a legitimate symbol of disrespect in the Arab world.
What is throwing glitter on someone supposed to mean besides "You're fabulous! Let's party!"?
I think we can do better.

It sticks around FOREVER. And even when you think it's all gone, you'll find it show up around the house, in bed, in your hair, etc.
It's a quite brilliant act of citizen protest. Newt will be reminded of his anti-gay bigotry and this protest for months, regardless of how much he tries to forget the embarrassment.
You'd think having a lesbian sister would have changed him, but Cheney was still promoted majorly homophobic policies while having a lesbian daughter, so at the end of the day these Republican 'family values' proponents just continue to stew in their own hypocrisy.
