He was at our congress rep's town hall and read to him one of his campaign promises (not to cut Medicare) and then brought up the fact that he had supported the Ryan budget.
But the best part was when KansDem asked "HOW CAN WE TRUST YOU?"
It was awesome. Best question at the town hall. Made my day. Hell, it made my WEEK!!
THREE CHEERS FOR KansDem!!!!

Just logged in (took Friday off).
I believe Rep. Yoder, after acknowledging I made a "good point," went on to say that it was about "controlling costs."
?? :(
So when he voted for Rep. Ryan's budget, he wasn't reneging on his campaign promise, but was "controlling costs."
I'm still baffled by his response.

I'd have gone, I live in Lawrence- although I'm represented by Jenkins where I am registered. It pains me to see that he got elected here. It was a crappy year for us and to compound that we had a crappy candidate.

| 12. Kk, I was working then anyways. :/ When he comes to Lawrence next time I'll give him hell. When |
|
he came to KU I, being a member of the Student Senate then, asked him if he'd support a DADT repeal if the Chairman and Defense Secretary did through the current process in place. He said he'd consider it, it was so offensive. The man had had a high ass rating from the Kansas Equality Coalition when he was in the state legislature, he voted against the state marriage ban for gays and lesbians, but here he was just acting all conservative. No doubt in my mind the man could give two shits less about someones sexual orientation. Just a sell out. I wish on these subjects the Republicans who support us would just stand up, I thinks more then we think really.

One thing that I've noticed. Having attended a Diane Black town hall here in middle Tennessee earlier this week is that these guys HAVE THE SAME PROPS. All the charts were the same, the talking points were the same, and the answers (such as they were) were all the same.

:hi:
And would like to say it was indeed a proud moment for me to be with Proud2BlibKansan and others who showed up en masse to set the record straight! :woohoo:
I truly believe there were more attendees who opposed Rep. Yoder's stance as supported it.
Many more...

I must say my wife was there sitting next to me. She's been heavily involved with climate-change issues (she attended Al Gore's "Climate Project" symposium in 2007), and was livid that Rep. Yoder does not recognize climate change.
She wanted to speak, too, but time ran out. She wanted to ask him why he continues to deny climate-change science in favor of coal-fired power plants. She wanted to point out that many of the elected representatives in the room who he had introduced with such glowing praise...
Either voted for the Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement: Mayor Schafer of Prairie Village Mayor McConwell of Mission
Or voted against coal-fired power plants: Kansas State Representative Reardon Kansas State Senator Huntington
There were others but she had forgotten their names.
It would have been priceless to see his reaction!
