| 2. Being in an interior room wouldn't have saved anyone there. |
|
I remember a tornado in the city where I lived a few years ago -- it destroyed a house layer by layer, killing several people taking shelter in an interior closet.
Now I live in a place where, because of the soil, there are no basements or tornado shelters. When I asked the realtor what people did in the case of a tornado, she responded "we try not to have them."
Funny, but scary, too.

| 3. If there's a real global war of terror...it's Mother Nature. |
|
Meanwhile we piss our country's future down the drain chasing an unknown enemy, halfway around the world while our domestic infrastructure crumbles around us.

While the real one is allowed to freely destroy us.

| 9. Heard one lady made her son put on his bicycle helmet and it saved his life |
|
She said they climbed in the bath tub to hide and she had heard it was a good idea to put on a helmet if possible in such a circumstance. She said she made her son put on his helmet and their toilet was ripped from the floor and fell on top of them. Hit her son in the head and her on the shoulder. Broke her shoulder but her son had no injuries.. something to think about if you live in an area subject to such things.

| 11. Anyone send this to Rethug Eric Can'tor who wants to hold off helping Joplin until he gets budget |
|
cuts? This lunatic Can'tor wants to further terrorize Joplin by telling them, they will get no government assistance unless the Republicans get more draconian budget cuts for the majority of us, the poor and middle class. These Republicons grow sicker and nastier by the day. It's not bad enough that Joplin citizens were terrorized by an F5 tornado and are now suffering without homes, cloths, food, etc, the Republicons want to use their suffering to make a deal for further budget cuts. How disgusting. Just how low will these people go? Lou

| 13. F4 - according to preliminary reports |
|
The intense twister that whipped through Joplin on Sunday spun with windspeeds approaching 200 miles per hour, ranking it as an F4 , just below the top of the tornado scale. It was a rare destructive phenomenon known as a "multi-vortex," hiding two or more cyclones within the wider wind funnel. http://www.cleveland.com/nation/index.ssf/2011/05/joplin_missouri_tornado_was_ra.html
