| OMG...Buchanan asks Eugene Robinson "What was wrong with the fifties?" |
|
Edited on Fri May-27-11 08:05 AM by Atman
Robinson has class, so he kind of laughed, and said "We'll, you can ask my parents. They didn't think the fifties were so great." Great comeback to the old racist prick.

I'm sure Buchanan remembers the 50s fondly when everyone was in their righteous role as an underling to his gender and race.

We could bring those back and balance the budget very quickly.

Seriously, what a dumbass Buchanan is...
Not only domestic violence, but alcoholic parents driving all over creation with their spouse and/or kids in the car. If you don't believe me talk to some older people who had alcoholic parents.

| 20. Say what you will of the fifties |
|
I was a time that the country was recovering from a terrible depression, the ecological damage of the dust bowl, a major war fought on two fronts, not to mention all the social issues boiling under the surface. What the country did at that time is what is important to remember. Low interest loans to veterans. College grants to qualified students. Investments in American infrastructure that fueled the economy. The emergence of an American Ideal that life would be better for future generations FDR's social programs kick in and elderly Americans can live in dignity. For the first time in history a growth of a middle class that began to question the inequities of racial and sexual status. Out of all this came the people and power to make changes that we take for granted today. I for one would love to see a world more like the fifties for my grand children to grow up in. I remember it as a time that people grew to love and respect one another and gathered the strength to challenge the problems we faced with a creative spirit.
