An unmanned helicopter is used to plant rice seeds on May 27 in Sendai's Wakabayashi Ward, an area struck heavily by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Local farmer Koichi Kimura, 53, pictured at right, has plowed and irrigated his rice fields three times to remove salt from the soil, which has made it more fragile. Since there was a possibility rice planters could not be used on the paddies he decided to plant the rice seeds directly using a helicopter. Experts spent two years checking the colors of the paint that had flaked off the wall, originally built and decorated about 250 years ago. The restored main hall will be opened to the general public on June 1. (Mainichi)

It feels good to see them starting to recover some. I hope they can recover fully.
