| What do you think of the Kennedy family? |
|
America has a number of families that have been in Power's inner circle. The Kennedy family is one of them. It produced a US president, a man who likely would have been president, and the most accomplished US Senator ever known. It has a long history that is well documented.
What are your thoughts on them? Do you hold them in esteem?
I will be asking this question about several more American families.

I have much respect for the Kennedy family, I think they sacrificed a lot for this country. Warts and all.

For five generations in public life, they have put service to country ahead of themselves.

social climber. Mrs. Kennedy (Rose) was okay. The love and admiration went to the children. Palm Beach however, is WASP and had little regard for Catholics, let alone Irish Catholics..."How many kids do they have for Gawd's sake?" Joe Kennedy really fell out of favor when he tried to come into the Everglades Club with Gloria Swanson for dinner, and was denied. He was furious, Swanson laughed and Palm Beach ignored him..

But I did...and do...hold the Kennedy's in fairly good graces. I certainly understood when JFK's surviving spouse married a rich and powerful man.

The elite, wealthy and powerful hate that. They consider it traitorous.

In spite of the flaws that sometimes emerge in astounding fashion, the trend is toward energizing the common good. Rather a stark contrast to the Bush bunch, the difference between a legacy and a curse.

however I disagree with generation after generation of the same families running this country. So I would be happy if all Kennedys quietly returned to private life

I worshipped Pres. Kennedy, who was murdered when I was a sophomore in H.S. Teddy has been a life-long hero of mine socially and politically (Bobby was too, but he was murdered when I was 19).

once in a great while I catch myself lumping a whole group together like that. Fortunately the DU is kind enough to remind me whichever group I'm yammering about has individuals who's talents and challenges cover a wide variation.
