I see it as a double bind - neither is an absolving/flattering prospect, and both (should) have severe implications. Why isn't this made more clear?

This is basically what it comes down to for any of the loopy dipshits who have testified before Congress with the unaware/"amnesia" defense (Donald Rumsfeld, Enron execs, etc...). It's one of two things: they're either lying, or completely inept. They don't deserve to hold such high positions of power (in government or business), and they certainly don't deserve such staggering salaries.

I remember Alberto Gonzales testfying before congress with all his "I don't recall" statements, and all I could think of was he was either a massive liar covering his own ass, or a completely incompetent nitwit.
