Croatia Set for E.U. Membership

The European Commission has given Croatia the green light to join the European Union, with membership likely to start in 2013. The commission said negotiations could be concluded because talks on reforming the Croatian judiciary, the last major stumbling block, have succeeded. Croatia, which started membership talks about six years ago, would become the second former Yugoslav nation to join and the 28th member state.
