I raise a practical Question on Rick Perry

MSNBC ran the rather funny clip tonight of Rick Perry not able to understand why teen pregnancy in his state can be so high if abstinence only education "works".


Perry responds glibly, “Abstinence works.”“But we have the third highest teen pregnancy rate among all states in the country,” Smith replies. “It doesn’t seem to be working.” “It works,” Perry insists. “Maybe it’s the way it’s being taught or the way that it’s being applied out there.”

Then comes my favorite part
"I'm going to tell you from my own personal life abstinence works"

I love this part because it begs the question in my mind. If it works then what about that whole story from a few days back about Rick Perry and the vasectomy?

So I ask you fellow DUers if abstinence only works, why did Rick Perry need a vasectomy? If a horny teenager can hold off having the sex, shouldn't a fully grown adult?
