| Tripoli blast kills Libyan fighters |
|
At least four Libyan fighters have been killed in the capital, Tripoli, in a blast that went off as residents, already rejoicing at the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime, celebrated Eid-al-Fitr.
Some residents said it was a car bomb and the blast was carried out by Gaddafi loyalists. ... http://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa/2011/08/201183113850542486.htmlSomething tells me this is only the beginning.

| 1. Tripoli turning into Baghdad was about as predictable as the sun rising in the east. |

Support for Qaddafi among the civilian population in western Libya ranged up to 80% in some towns, but was always at least 20%. There are hundreds of thousands of Libyans who, from their perspective, just lost the government they supported to a western backed coup. Guerrilla warfare is the natural response. If western troops occupy the region, it's just going to get a lot worse.
As the recent bombings in Baghdad have clearly demonstrated, even elections won't end it when they're conducted under the eye of outsiders. The losers simply decide that the invaders cheated. After all, if they'll bomb your country and kill your people, what's a fudged election or two?
