The working class made progress for a brief, shining moment - coinciding with the 'economic miracle' of the post-WWII era, a top tax rate of 92%, and 20 million unionized workers in the late '70s and early '80s. Even then, we danced to the tune that the corpocracy played, but we were upwardly mobile and slowly gaining a modicum of control over our own destinies. Now, the plutocrats are feeling so invulernable that they openly flout their wealth & influence, along with their haughty disdain for the welfare of the millions who labored that they may be ensconsed in luxury. They seek to further subjugate us to the point that economic terrorism is commonplace. There has never been a more urgent need for a wake-up call to our would-be 'masters' than today, although there is much difference of opinion (and division, to our detriment) on how that wake-up call needs to be delivered. They may wait until the more 'merciful' options have fallen by the wayside, but it's not as though they weren't warned. For my part, I advocate more 'equitable' solutions, but I fear that those solutions would be ignored by those who need to listen most intently.

Well, maybe 3 generations, if you count WW2 ( but so many paid a horrible price for THAT).
My grandparents who worked during WW2 after surviving the Depression and raising 8 kids during it.
my mother's generation born during the late 20's and 30's,
and my generation, born at tail end of The War and coming of age during the 60's .
Bear in mind there was a severe recession in late 70's and several more during 80's and 90's....
but after 2001, things really went downhill fast for employment.
