Al Sharpton leads a group of demonstrators calling for Georgia state officials to halt the scheduled execution of convicted cop killer Troy Davis at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Georgia, on September 21, 2011. Davis is scheduled to die wednesday for the 1989 murder of a Savannah police officer, although his supporters contend several witnesses have recanted their trial statements.

The countdown to the execution of Troy Davis entered its final hours tonight, despite an international campaign to spare the US convicted of killing an off-duty policeman. 1. Not giving Troy Davis a stay just might be the straw that broke

the camel's back. I sure hope, for everyone's sake, that they do the right thing and grant this man a stay. Good Lord, it's just a stay; it's not like he's going to get out or something. They need to investigate the witnesses, jurors, etc before they kill an innocent man. I don't know if Mr. Davis is innocent, but he deserves further investigation just like all of us. Come on, Georgia, do the correct thing. Give him a chance.

I cannot thank everyone who cares enough. I'm not neurotic. This is not my way of projecting my life issues onto a civil situation. I truly empathize with the Troy Davis's who are languishing in jail without due justice. You know who they are. 20, 30 years.

We are living in a cruel nation. I slept poorly last night. This was heavy on my subconscious. I dreamed I had moved to Norway. There was great relief that I was living in a country with caring people. We can be that nation.

Come on America. Let us know that you care. I want a big nation. Not a small, dark, dirty place.

I don't think it is going to help. This is Georgia, a barbaric state. It is too late.
