| Will a US President aim drones at the Saudi Royal family someday? |
|
What if it is determined that members of the Saudi royal family were complicit in the attacks of 9/11? At what level of involvement by these Saudi royals will we dispense some Hellfire justice in Riyadh or Mecca? Will we start killing those in Saudi Arabia that fund Al-Queda? Surely bankrolling the operational end of Al-Queda would merit some shit in Saudi Arabia getting blown to smithereeens!
Not only was the whacking of Al-Alawki an extra-judicial action, it was a SELECTIVE extra-judicial action. Wrap your mind around the fact that this event was an ARBITRARY murder. Not all folks will be treated equally in the future. And whatever you do, don't piss off our Dear Leader at any time in the future.

Not too long after the attacks on the U.S. in September 2001. They turned up dead in very suspicious circumstances, in separate incidents.

|
Of course, it could have just been a few of the royals did not want to play ball with BushCo in an acceptable manner.
Cheers Sir!

| 5. Dead Princes Do Invite Speculation As To Cause, Sir |
|
Especially when the timing has a certain aptness....
But you will doubtless take my point: our government likely would kill Saudi royals if they felt they had cause, and some means of handling possible reactions to it, and if in fact the persons killed were involved in levying war against the United States, the action would be a proper exercise of state power, in my view.

any thoughts of dispensing justice for acts already committed?
I would agree that certain Saudis would clean their own laundry if they felt an existential threat regardless of title or relation.

It would be a delicate operation, certainly, and might fail in several ways, taken as a whole. But that hardly means an open enemy who can be slain without such risks ought to go unengaged. The fact that one operation might be considered too fraught with peril to undertake while another can be carried out with ease does not make foregoing the one and undertaking the other an arbitrary decision.

| 2. Come on with this nonsense. |
|
It was not an arbitrary attack. There was nothing random nor whimsical about it. It was a planned attack against a declared enemy combatant. The hysteria around is here is absolutely ridiculous. You want to avoid having this happen to you? Don't fucking declare war against us. Don't declare that your goal is to kill as many of our citizens as possible and no one will drop a bomb on your stupid ass. Christ, this fuck was an al Qaeda operative and propagandist, he wasn't some innocent random American abroad that we decided to kill just for the hell of it.
And this was not extra-judicial in any way, it was perfectly legal. The law is on the books.

dangerous or inspire violence? Is that correct?

| 12. There is a bit of a difference between Sean Hannity and an al-Qaida operative. |
|
Not much of one I'll admit. I do not advocate the killings of Michael Savage or Rush Limbaugh because they are not part of a group that has declared itself the enemy of the United States and has actively sought the death and destruction of its people and institutions.
Wait.
What?
The difference is al-Qaida is trying to get people to kill us all.
The RW propagandists are trying to convince us to kill ourselves.
This American icon that we are rending, gnashing and wringing about was a lot more than a mere person who "said things I believe are dangerous........." He was an avowed terrorist whose stated life's mission was to kill as many Americans as possible and who was involved in several plots against us. When you declare war against your own country you are forfeiting your rights as a citizen. Fuck this guy, fuck his other "American" buddy and fuck the others who went with them.

|
While the overall threat of Al-Qaeda may be exaggerated, they do exist and they have attacked and killed our people. The late, unlamented al-Awlaki was a part of that organization. Of that there is little doubt as he is on video declaring himself as such. What exactly is it that I am believing that I shouldn't be?

Edited on Sat Oct-01-11 08:15 AM by Vinnie From Indy
by your government. Is there a list of ideas and speech somewhere that will get one killed? Are we supposed to use our "gut instinct" or are these words codified into law somewhere?
Are we a nation of laws or a nation of laws except when you say things that are unacceptable and inspire violence?

I hope women get the right to vote. Of course, their elections are probably rigged like Russia and Singapore.

So women are not really being given anything, nor are the people.
The whole of Saudi Society is schizophrenic. I remember one particularly memorable moment on the Dubai metro when a Saudi couple stepped on at airport carrying cases of beer, yet wearing the traditional conservative dress.
Saudi will go down and when it goes it will be ugly.
