| I have this misunderstanding about DU |

Can someone explain the difference between General Discussion and General Discussion Presidency?
I understand that the lounge is some wild and crazy place that I mainly avoid. I read the FAQ on braking gnus, and the specialty items all make sense, especially Macintosh, Israel Palestine, religion, etc. I could even tell how GDP was a different place during the last presidential primaries and general election. But now? I am confused. For the i-Life of me, I cannot tell the difference between GD and GDP.
Anyone there who can elucidate, educate, express or otherwise endow me with knowledge?

General discussion presidency is mostly focused on President Obama and topics about him and his administration.
General discussion is kind of a free for all, where just about anything can be posted on a wide variety of topics.
Also, general discussion presidency is much more friendly to the president I believe and his more devoted supporters hang out there while general discussion tends to be more critical of Obama.
