Shouldn't a candidate like Perry hiding from the media for over a week be a big story?

It is hardly mentioned isn't it? Rachel Maddow and Al Sharpton mentioned it yesterday but this story doesn't seem to go any further than that. Why is that?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a whack job like this as president who when something important comes up he goes off somewhere and hides?
